Information about neck and facelifts in Utah

Facelift is a broad term that encompasses many approaches to lifting and contouring the cheeks and neck during a facial cosmetic surgery. Because of the regions a facelift addresses, Dr. Barr uses the term ‘cheek – neck lift.’ Dr. Barr prefers a more customized approach to facelifts, listening to her patients’ desires and tailoring the technique of surgery to more specifically to meet their needs.

In the cheeks, the SMAS layer is re-suspended and the skin is released and re-draped. If necessary, the jowls are directly removed and sometimes an implant is placed just in front of them to provide for a smooth jawline. In the neck, fat above and sometimes underneath the muscle may need to be removed, the muscle will then be sutured and the skin re-draped. The amount and location of the tissue that is re-contoured and the skin that is re-draped and excised, determines the locations of the incisions.
