Skin Procedures

Skin procedures, face peels andChemical peels can be tailored to meet your needs. A light (superficial) peel and/or microdermabrasion will provide a brightening of your skin, lightening of brown spots and fine lines and has very minimal or no downtime. Try a trichloroacetic acid peel if your looking for an intermediate option. A deep peel is on the other end of the spectrum and will result in dramatic improvements in the facial skin allowing some patients to ‘start from scratch’. Dr. Barr will sometimes treat one area with a medium or deep peel, such as the area around your eyes or around your mouth with a topical anesthetic, but full face deep peels require anesthesia and 7-10 days of ‘down time’ (not presentable to the public eye). Pink skin can then linger a couple of months, but this is easy to cover with makeup.

Some laser treatments on the other hand have very minimal downtime and don’t require any anesthesia, for example the pulsed dye laser which specifically treats facial redness, or telangiectasias. The fractional CO2 laser is done under local anesthesia and can be tailored to your needs. For smoothing away brown spots, a series of a few treatments with only a weekend of downtime each can be used. More aggressive treatment of deeper wrinkles requires more downtime, but not as much as the deep chemical peel.
